The conference "Climate
Change as a Security Threat - Strategies for Policy-Makers, Science
and Business" was carried out in a climate neutral way.
Practically any event creates a further burden on the climate,
for instance through the participants' transport means to and from
the conference and their energy use throughout. It is therefore
not possible to make any event completely emissions-free, however
a significant mitigation of its climate footprint is possible.
First
Climate (http://www.firstclimate.com) calculated
that 148t CO2 were released
into the atmosphere as a result of the
conference. Environmental impacts of the conference
were reduced by investing into the carbon sequestration
project "Bundled wind farm
project in Maharashtra State" in India.
