Dipal C. Barua is along with Professor Yunus a founding member
of Grameen Bank, which was started as an action research project
in 1976. He has spent more than 30 years developing and implementing
micro-credit packages to make the poor and the rural people an essential
part of the development cycle. Mr Barua is now the Deputy Managing
Director of Grameen Bank. As the Founding Managing Director of Grameen
Shakti, which is one of the most successful rural based renewable
energy companies in the world, he is the driving force in expanding
renewable energy technologies in Bangladesh.
