Colin Challen
 
Colin Challen represents Morley and Rothwell - one of eight parliamentary constituencies in Leeds, West Yorkshire. He was elected on June 7th, 2001 and had previously stood as a Parliamentary Candidate in 1992, in Beverley, East Yorkshire. Colin Challen is a founding chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group. Prior to his work for the Labour Party he was for 12 years a self-employed printer and publisher, having started a small business after leaving university in 1982. Colin Challen holds a philosophy degree from the University of Hull. His chief concerns focus on the environment, trade policy, the economy, pensions/senior citizens' interests and animal welfare. He is a member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee, and in 2003 he launched and became a founder member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Free Trade. On 29 January 2007 Colin Challen announced that he would not contest the next general election, in order to devote his time to campaigning on climate change.
